Phoenix Crib, a new beginning
HTD RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

This information will help you in understanding what is expected of you as a HTD and how you are expected to preform in certain situations. It is recommend all HTDs take the time to read this information.

EXPECTATIONS - REQUIREMENTS

As a HTD your focus is on the tournaments that run daily on the ladder.
HTDs should be regularly checking to make sure:

  • The calendar is filled when possible
  • TDs are not over spamming their tourneys
  • TDs are putting the right rules on their tourney pages
  • Specials such as Go for the Gold are advertised by TDs
  • Reserved spots are respected by everyone
  • The TDs are there to run their tourneys

You should make yourself available to assist all TDs, with training, and any help they may require assistance in the smooth running of their tourneys.

  • HTD are chosen because they demonstrate a commitment to the league and are able to put the needs of the league above their own needs when dealing with the staff and members.

  • HTDs are expected to run an average of 2 tourneys per week (based on an average over any 6 week period)

  • HTDs and Admins who fail to meet the minimum requirement and have been lowered/removed, or request to be lowered/removed, may be reinstated. When they feel they are capable of keeping up with the minimum requirements, they simply need to ask an Admin to reinstate them immediately. They can only be reinstated 1 time. If they step down and wish to be reinstated a second time, they need to  use the HTD application or the TD application. This only applies if the HTD or Admin was lowered or removed because they were unable to fulfil their commitments. If they were lowered or removed for any other reason they need to reapply.

  • When making decisions or dealing with members, a HTD should take into consideration only the well being and needs of the league. Your personal feelings should be set aside in all decisions. All members and staff should be treated with equal respect REGARDLESS OF YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS.

  • HTDs are subject to all the same rules as TDs and are expected to follow in the code of conduct

  • HTDs may not belong to another league sharing the same lobby.

  • HTDs and Admins will meet the last Sunday of every month to discuss any problems and suggestions. HTDs are expected to make themselves available for these meetings as often as humanly possible.

  • All HTDs must be on the spam list.

  • HTDs are expected to cooperate and work in a productive manner with all the members of the team. If a HTD is unable to put aside difference to work together as a team, they will be removed.

  • Phoenix_crib must be your primary league (meaning you spend the majority of your gaming time in phoenix)
CONDUCT

  • HTDs should set an example not only in behaviour but in sportsmanship. They should set an example by playing their matches in a timely manner, inviting quickly and by being gracious in winning and losing.

  • HTDs are not bosses but guides and teachers on the ladder. If they see something  being done incorrectly they should not admonish the TD but try to help them and teach them the correct way.

  • HTDs should never post anything negative in the forum.

  • HTDS should be professional and friendly at all times. This includes in the lobby, on messenger and in e-mails. Your decisions and actions reflect on the whole league.

  • To alleviate the impression of not showing support of the league or a TD, HTD's should not sit idle in the lobby if there is a possibility a TD will need a 4th player. It also gives the members the impression they are being ignored. They should leave they lobby and return when they are able to commit the time.

  • HTDs are expected to cooperate and work in a productive manner with all the members of the team. If a HTD is unable to put aside personal differences to work together as a team, they will be removed.

  • The HTD/Admin team is not a secret organization, but discretion is expected by all HTD and Admin. Members have the right to know what is being discussed, but do not have the right to know individuals opinions or votes. This only causes friction among friends and members. In short be respect the confidence of instant messenger and e-mails by not sharing unless you ask permission from the parties involved before.

  • As a HTD, you are expected to publicly support all decisions that the Team agrees to, regardless of your personal opinions.

TRAINING TDS

Training new TDs is one of the most important tasks of a HTD. As we all have bad habits and different ways of doing things, no one TD should be trained by a single HTD.

  • The primary trainer is responsible only to verify that the new TDs have finished each section of training.

  • All HTDs should encourage new TDs to train with as many HTDs and Admins as possible. This gives the trainee many perspectives and, allows each member of the HTD/Admin team a chance to form a bond with the new TD. This will make it easier for the new TD to feel as if they are a part of a team, which will make them feel more comfortable to approach any member of the HTD/Admin team if they need assistance.

  • It is important that all HTDs record training sessions in the TDs training file. This will make it easier for any member of the Team to assist in training.

  • Never undermine another trainer. If you disagree with something another trainer has told the TD, remember often trainees are under stress and have selective memory. None of us are perfect and may remember things different. Talk to the other trainer first, and see if there is a misunderstanding of the rules first. No need to start posting and making someone look stupid when it all may be something misunderstood.

  • Always be positive when training TDs. Always point out the things they have done right, offer help and suggestions when they do things wrong. Don't go well you did this wrong you need to do it this way. Say it would better for you if you did it this way and explain why. Explaining the reasons why, is much more effective than saying "because it is a rule"

  • Help them gain confidence. Praise them for running the tourney, even if they screwed up big time. They are in training and are not expected to get everything right, that is why they are supervised. Tell them they did good. If they had a lot of problems, say you did OK don't worry, relax it gets much easier. It is a learning process and most of us had problems the first few.

  • For more information detailed information on training a new TD, you can refer to the training manual.

LOBBY BEHAVIOUR - PROBLEM PLAYERS

Lobby behaviour and dealing with problem players is the ultimately the responsibility of the Admins. Whenever there is an Admin around, they should be contacted to deal with these problems.

  • First rule of thumb is; the TD running the tourney is responsible for the lobby. Have confidence in the staff and allow the TDs to exercise this authority, without interference.

  • If the TD cannot control the situation, and no Admin is available, then contact the TD and offer assistance and/or advice in dealing with the problem player.

  • HTDs do not have the ability to box or ban any players. They should never use the threat of boxing or banning on any player.

  • Never confront a player or TD in the lobby, and never use another Staff member to tag team what you feel is a problem player.

  • If an admin was not around, and you had no option but to deal with a problem player, send screen shots of everything that happened to the admin mailbox as soon as possible. phoenixcrib@yahoo.com When providing screen shots, please show shots that include the portions before and after the incident. (ie: John swears in the lobby, do not send in the screen shot showing him swearing only. It helps when the admins can see what happened before the transgression. It also helps to see the reactions that occurred after.)

TOURNEY DIRECTORS

  • Tds must run at least 1 tourney every 21 days. If they do not they will be sent a letter by Admin reminding them of their commitment.

  • Only HTD can vote on new TD applications. The only exception being in the event of a tie.

  • HTDs can't remove TDs. This can only be done by Admin.

  • HTDs should always treat every TD with courtesy and respect. They should encourage them at all times and encourage them to work with ALL members of the team.

  • HTDs should never undermine another HTD or TD when talking to a player or a TD.

TD APPLICATIONS

  • Only HTDs get to vote on TD applications. (except in the event of a tie)

  • You vote on new TD applications by posting your thoughts in the HTD/Admin group.

  • Never vote using the process applications link in the HTD menu. Only the HTD monthly team leader will use the process applications link in the menu.

  • Never disclose how individuals voted on applications. You are a Team and the  results of the vote are disclosed as a unified team

  • No TD application will be processed before a minimum of 2 days. This allows all parties time to convey any information deemed necessary to consider the application.

  • HTDs should not disclose any information on applications until the Team leader has processed the application.

  • At no time should any HTD disclose how an individual HTD voted. This could result in ill feelings between friends and/or cause friction with members.

  • For complete information on accepting applications, you can click this link

HTD TEAM LEADER

  • It is the HTD team leaders responsibility to collect all the votes and to process all TD applications.

  • The position of team leader rotates on a monthly basis. A schedule of when each HTD has their turn as team leader can be found in the database files of the HTD/Admin group.

  • The responsibilities of the Team leader can be found in the processing applications section of the training manual

TOURNEYS

Tourneys should be the main focus of all HTDs.

  • Check often to make sure that all tourneys are being closed as soon as possible. When tourneys are not closed as soon as they are finished it adversely effects the ladder standings.

  • HTDs should be paying attention when in the lobby to make sure the TD is not having any problems. If the HTD feels the TD has lost control of the tourney, message the TD and OFFER assistance.

  • Do not make changes or reports on a another TDs page without talking with the TD.

  • HTDs should be paying close attention for every tourney that they are present for. They should be ready to jump in if the TD is frozen or booted. This is especially important at the start of a tourney.

  • IF a TD is a no show, and members have registered, for a tourney, the HTD should NEVER cancel the tourney. If they or another HTD is available to run the tourney they should run the tourney. Cancelling it will only cause inconvenience to the members. The only time it is acceptable to cancel a tourney with members registered, is when nobody is available to run the tourney.

  • It is important that all HTD be on the spam list. This will help the HTDs to make sure TDs are not over spamming tourneys and spamming correct info.

  • If there is open spots on the calendar, HTDs should post asking for TDs to help fill spots.

  • HTDs should be trying to encourage TDs to book regular tourney spots. They should also be encouraging TDs to run special tourneys.

  • HTDs may not play in a tourney that they are starting for another TD. After the tourney has started, if the TD has to leave or is booted, the HTD may run the tourney and remain as a player.

GROUPS

As a HTD, you will be a member of 3 groups. The TD Forum, HTD/Admin Group and the training group.

  • In the TD group you should be posting information and encouragement to all the staff.

  • In the training group you will be able to access the training files of all the new TDs. Here you can view where the TD is in training and you can update any training you assist with.

  • In the HTD/Admin group, you will share any problems or suggestions with other members of the HTD/Admin team.

  • The HTD/Admin team needs to rely on each other to learn and make sure that all tasks and rules are followed. Therefore EVERY member of the HTD/Admin team is encouraged to post anything they see or think is wrong in the HTD/Admin group. It is only by looking out for each other and sharing this information that we can truly be a team. NO INDIVIDUAL SHOULD SEE ANY POST AS AN ATTACK ON THEIR WORK IN THE LEAGUE, rather a chance for the team to learn and improve for the better of the league. If individuals choose to not post but to share information to others by telephone or personal e-mail, then it becomes a group of individuals or cliques and not a team.

RULES

HTDs are not exempt from any rules which apply to members or TDs. HTDs should actually be setting an example for all members on how to behave.

  • HTDs should be very familiar with the code of conduct and the no drama policy, which deal with what type of behaviour is acceptable.

  • HTDs should be familiar with the rules which govern how the ladder operates.

TASKS

There are very many tasks in the league which need to be done. These tasks range from updating stats to organizing special tourneys. All HTDs are encouraged to help with some of these tasks, many of which take very little time.

HTDs are also encouraged to change the tasks they do from time to time. It helps you as an individual to learn more tasks, and helps the league by having a back up of many people, who are able to fill in and teach new members of the team these tasks.

CLICK HERE FOR A LIST OF TASKS

Please contact Just_Sera if you would like to help with some of these tasks.

You can also check the tasks calendar in the HTD/Admin group to see what tasks need to be done on a daily basis.

We realize this is a lot of information to remember. We do not expect you to remember each and every rule. In the HTD/Admin group you will find links which will help you.

All we ask is before you quote rules or make decisions, that you take the time to enquire from others or find the correct answers in the links provided in the HTD/Admin group

Take advantage the TD and HTD groups as opposed to "Email all TD's/HTD's."

Posting all your questions in the HTD/Group will help us all learn and become stronger.

Posting anything you see that you feel needs to be corrected will help us all learn, which helps the league become stronger.

Posting anything you see wrong or needs to be corrected in the group, only means the Team is all working together to improve everything for the members.
