
TYPES OF TOURNEYS There are four basic types of tourneys, and many different ways to play each one. |

SINGLE ELIMINATION On the tourney calendar these will be displayed in BLUE. You keep playing until you have been defeated only 1 time. It is not possible to withdraw from an elimination tourney. If you are unable to continue playing you will be assessed a loss so the tourney can advance. |

DOUBLE ELIMINATION On the tourney calendar these will be displayed in RED. You keep playing until you have been defeated 2 times. It is possible to win this tourney if you have lost 1 game. It is not possible to withdraw from an elimination tourney. If you are unable to continue playing you will be assessed a loss so the tourney can advance. |
REGULAR SWISS On the tourney calendar these will be displayed in LIGHT PURPLE. You can play every round in this tourney, win or lose. Although there are a set number of rounds, the tourney ends when there is 1 undefeated player. You may withdraw at the end of any round from this tourney. You can withdraw by clicking the register button on the tourney page and entering your name and password and clicking withdraw. You can also ask the TD to withdraw you. If you ask the TD to withdraw you, make sure the TD acknowledges your request. |

TRUE SWISS On the tourney calendar these will be displayed in DARK PURPLE. You play every round in this tourney, win or lose. There is a set number of rounds in this tourney. It is possible to win this tourney even if you have lost in a round. You may withdraw at the end of any round from this tourney. You can withdraw but clicking the register button on the tourney page and entering your name and password and clicking withdraw. You can also ask the TD to withdraw you. If you ask the TD to withdraw you, make sure the TD acknowledges your request. This type of tourney can end in a tie. |
